I'm looking forward to learning more about what I've got! I believe the serial number makes it a 1943 - which is nice because I have an M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, and a Mosin Nagant that all by chance happened to be dated 1943. Colt duplicated the following serial number blocks: 60000 pistols in the Ithaca range 856405-916404 41696 pistols in the Remington Rand range 916405-958100 6755-MM264' for 5,000 Colt 1911 Government model pistols The 'FJA' mark is the final inspection mark of Lt Colt Barrel Markings: Serial 710,00 to End of Production Colt M1911 Barrel. The top and the bottom of the slide show some signs of use and I have no problem with that. Just received my Field Grade, and it's an Ithaca frame and slide which makes me very happy. Some pistols will have numbers or letters on the trigger guard, these are marks of factory inspectors. Unable to tell if this was rebuilt or merely just inspected.įind duplicate words in text file online ()
REMINGTON RAND 1911A1 RS WHERE IS THE SERIAL NUMBER SERIAL NUMBERS
The gun does not have any serial numbers on it anywhere. I was thrilled As you can imagine it cheered me up instantly Just one minor problem. My long time friend found this gun in his father's possessions after he passed and gave it to me as a divorce present. Interesting Arsenal inspection marks for inspector FK (Frank Krack 1941-1946) from RIA Rock Island arsenal. Remington Rand 1911A1 With No Serial Numbers. 1943 Ithaca Field grade that at first glance appears to be all correct. Of course I'd feel better about it if y'all can reassure me this is par for the course as far as 75 year old combat pistols go! Looking forward to it getting out of CA FFL jail and sending some lead downrange. Is this normal? Any suggestions welcomed.

Aside from the serial number, the only other marking on the pistol is the late style Remington Rand slide address. This pistol is serial numbered '135' and is among fewer than 200 produced. If/when the slide stop engages with the empty mag and I remove the magazine, the slide will close. This is a Remington Rand 1911A1 that was manufactured during WWII for demonstration purposes, or presentation to a factory management employee. Mag provided and an aftermarket mag are hit or miss whether the slide will lock open when the mag is empty. I'm a little concerned by the amount of play/slop/wiggle between frame and slide - you can see the loose tolerances when manipulated by hand and can hear it when you shake it in your hand - is this normal? Only other thing that concerns me which I may be able to fix is the slide stop. Weapon is VERY well used which is fine by me, I'm going to use it a LOT more. WGP Monogram: Walter G.Overall pretty happy to have received USGI frame/slide. Begley (civilian), late Colt M1911A1 frames Found on Remington Rand and Ithaca 1911A1s. and a P means it was tested with a proof round.ĬSR: Charles S Reed Colt S/N 717,282-723,000Į.E.C: Edmund E. Don't confuse the arsenal rebuild markings with the inspectors marks which were put on new guns accepted by the govt.
